Following an Optibet Virsliga tenth-round victory against Riga FC (3:0) teams head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his thoughts with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: ”I think that we earned this victory. If we put together the second half against Liepaja and the first half against Riga we have a perfect game of 90 minutes and that is what we have to be going for. The result was 3:0 which is why we played a calmer, a little slower in the second half. We will have games like these during the season and you have to get used to it. Eurocup games are ahead of us, matches that need results. I’m satisfied that Riga didn’t get to create much in the second half, they have one half-moment but even that was over the net. We were good at defending and we looked for quick transitions in the attack and that worked well for us too. I never had a doubt that we would let the game slip out of our hands. We knew that the first 15 minutes would be important to begin the second half which is why we went out really motivated to battle. After the 60th minute of the game, it looked like the opponent had already given up.”
