Away draw against RFS

22 August 2022

In the match of the 25th round of the Optibet Virsliga at LNK Sports Park, Valmiera FC played a draw – 2:2 with the RFS team.

The home team- RFS footballers- in the first half of the game – were decisively better. However, the first dangerous moment for our team – in the 23rd minute, Camilo Mena received a pass from Djibril Gueye, followed by a difficult shot and chaos in the penalty area, but without a result.

In the 36th minute of the game, we fell by ourselves and the opponent was able to take the lead. Several passes in the penalty area, and in the end, the ball went to Emerson, who put himself in a great position for a shot and also 0:1 on the scoreboard. Before halftime, the opponent hit again dangerously, but this time on the post.

In the second half, we went on the field with new vigor and confidence – our first excellent chance was already in the 49th minute, when Mena took the first shot, after which the ball bounced to Pape Yare Fall, who instead of hitting the empty corner of the goal, hit the ball high, over the goal.

The score was leveled in the 51st minute, when Camilo Mena once again went on a solo raid, a short pass to Daisuke Yokota, who extended the ball to Gueye – a fight in the penalty area, however, after falling, Jib got up, hit the ball and the ball went between the legs of the opposing goalkeeper Pavels Steinbors.

It didn’t take long to take the lead for the first time in the game – RFS footballers made a mistake near their own penalty area, the ball was won by Masaki Murata, who passed to Mena and went closer to the goal himself, only to send it menacingly into the opponent’s goal when he received the ball – the result 2:1.

The pace of the game, the course of the game, and control of the ball changed several times in the remaining time, however, Valmiera football players went forward, looking for the third goal. It didn’t happen. At the end of the game, RFS attacked dangerously – in the 90th minute of the game, we withstood a lot of pressure, but a moment later, after a rough mistake, the opponent’s joker – Elvis Stuglis was alone, in an excellent position in our penalty area and sent the ball into the goal to achieve the final score of the game, 2:2.

We will play our next game on Saturday (27.08), at 2:00 p.m., hosting the players of SK Super Nova at the Janis Dalins stadium.
