In the 15th round match of Optibet Virsliga, Valmiera FC on-road managed to beat Tukums 2000/Telms with a score of 3:0 extending the winning streak to 11 games in a row.
Straight off the bat, Valmiera FC went on to attack waiting for nothing and hoping for a quick goal so that the game would be set accordingly. Scoring chances were plenty and the best of them belonged to Luka Silagadze, who shot the ball in an empty side of the net but out of nowhere a Tukums player showed up and blocked it.
Team Captain Raimonds Krollis was the one to make it 1:0 – in the 22nd minute of the match the ball ended up with him and he assured that the goal would be scored and fans would now have a reason to celebrate.
The pressure from our side at the opposing net was enormous, there were some counter-attacks on our goal but the score remained unchanged after the first 45 minutes.
The second half began just as the first had ended – Valmiera FC went to attack. One moment, then another one, the ball flew everywhere but not in the net. Around the 60th minute of the game, Jurgis Kalns made planned substitutions sending Alvis Jaunzems, Daisuke Yokota, and Camilo Mena on the pitch, which instantly changed things.
First Yokota shined bright where after a corner-kick he broke into the penalty area and without hesitation sent the ball into the net after a ricochet which caused issues for opposing goalkeeper Sergejs Vilkovs.
Around the 75th minute, Mena got his goal from an assist by Alvis Jaunzems to triple the lead and get the final score of the game 3:0. After the third goal, the tempo of the game dropped. There were more scoring chances but the ball didn’t end up in the net anymore.
The next game will be played on Saturday (28.05) when at ”Daugava” stadium in Liepaja we will meet with the local FK Liepaja team.
