Jurgis Kalns: ”If we want to become champions, we have to become more aggressive”

Following an Optibet Virsliga, 25th round draw against RFS (2:2) Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his comments and thoughts with the media.

Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: ”I think that this is a fair result. A draw. We allowed the second goal in a very childish manner, our full-back went out on a diagonal to fight for an air ball even though we talked that we don’t have to do it. If it wouldn’t happen – the game would have ended with a 2:1 victory. We would be happier but the most important thing today was not to lose, to not allowed RFS to come closer. We still have to play once against Riga FC and twice with Liepaja. With equal points against RFS, we would be higher due to games played between us. We are five points over Riga now – a lot will be decided in the matches between us. If we talk about the game – we had a very weak first half. We have to learn to play the full ninety minutes against RFS. If we want to become champions, we have to become more aggressive. In the first half, the team slept, I had to wake them up so that things would change. I think that the first twenty minutes of the second half were in our favor. We did everything that we wanted to do, restocked our positional attack and the game went off.”
