Following an Optibet Virsliga, a 1st-round draw against ”FK RFS” (0:0) Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his comments and thoughts with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: ”First of all I want to congratulate everyone on the opening of the season. Thank you to the fans that arrived at the stadium despite the harsh weather. Thank you to everyone who put their hand into the game and made it possible for it to be played. Thank you to everyone that made this match unforgettable. Thank you to everyone who prepared the pitch, and to those that rushed on the pitch to clean it during the breaks, these people deserve to be praised. The same goes for all 22 players. Many of them had their first experience whilst playing in these conditions. What surprised me? The way Cedric Kuadio played, it felt like he had played in the snow his whole life, really impressive. What can we analyze? I don’t know, maybe the first 15 minutes, then we played something like ping pong. Football is simple, I told the players to play simpler. It was hard to adjust and ”RFS” did it better and a little faster which added pressure as the depth of the snow only grew. In general, I think that this was a hard-fought draw. First game as champions, a point is a point and the season really starts right now.”
