Following an Optibet Virsliga, 34th-round draw against FK RFS (1:1) Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his comments and thoughts with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: “Thank you guys. The whole game in the minority, with the dedication that we had today, you have to play in every game. If they tune in as they tuned in today, they have a big future. We don’t get it every game, but I believe that the two best championship teams were on the field today. I told the team that there is nothing to go through and that we have been the best team throughout the season. Even now we are where we are. Even though everyone expects us to stumble, to lose something, we can be proud of where we are. There are still two rounds and we are proud of what we have done today, regardless of how the season ends. What we have done this year – many gave us fifth, and sixth place – not only on the sporting principle. We have done a miracle to be in such a position with two rounds to go that everything depends on us. Today we were three minutes away from securing the title next week. There are still two games, not only for us but also for Riga FC. The fact that they would win all the games when they lost to us – was clear to everyone, except for the most ardent Riga fans. We are where we want to be, we have a game against SK Super Nova next week. Yes, we wanted to avoid the game with Liepaja, so that maybe we don’t need anything there anymore, it probably won’t happen, but who knows how everything will turn out.”
