Jurgis Kalns: ”We are thankful for the point that was earned today”

Following an Optibet Virsliga, 23rd round draw against FK Auda (1:1) Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his comments and thoughts with the media.

Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: ”I want to say happy birthday to the opposing team’s head coach Tomislav Stipic. Before the game, I wished him the same but I also told him that we hoped we could ruin it a little bit. His response was that not always dreams come true. We played a 1:1 game. He’s happy, we are happy. We had learned the lesson of being tied at one and then sprinting with legs over our shoulders to score points. This time around we didn’t need to do so. We are happy with 1:1. Obviously we tried to score more but we aren’t upset that we didn’t win. RFS had a tie against the same team, Metta vs Liepaja also ended in a tie. Point by point.. We aren’t greaving the three points that we didn’t get. There is always the next game where you can get the three points – for us it is Tukums which we will play in five days. Then we will have a longer break and we will be able to get ready for the Latvian cup game. We are now in a schedule where we will have a chance to train and for these young players, training is a necessity. It is a fair result today. In the second half we controlled the game, Auda didn’t have much to offer. We hoped that we could get the victory and if we would have done it in the final minutes of the game it would have shown the champion’s characteristics. We are thankful for the point that was earned today.”
