Following an Optibet Virsliga thirteenth-round victory against FK Metta (3:0) teams head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his thoughts with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: ‘’Thank you to the fans that came to the game from Valmiera and thank you also to Metta fans. There was a marathon in Riga, and world hockey championships are being played but there were fans in the stands. Unfortunately, the game was a little bit sleepy if I was a spectator I would think that the outcome is already known. One team knows that there will be three points, and the other knows that they aren’t getting them. That was probably thought from the side but no such thing was in the mind of players or team staff on the bench. Maybe sun and wind affected things, I recall when I still played the change in weather conditions sometimes could throw me off. At no point in the game, did I feel like we couldn’t take the three points. Prior to the first goal, Metta had a good chance when the goal post saved us. We started differently than usual and tried to surprise, it was the first time when we really changed our formation. We of course have things to offer to other opponents. We want to make sure that not everyone knows what they can expect from us.’’
