In regards to the exhibition game in Turkey against Torpedo Moscow on the evening of February 24th – we take full responsibility and deserve to be condemned by society after such a decision made by our club. There are no excuses, especially at a time when Ukraine is experiencing an unthinkable and brutal attack from the Russian Federation.
However, taking into account our international squad and our two Ukrainian players’ willingness to go ahead with the match, therefore sending a message (that can be seen in the picture attached) and at the same time – our willingness to the best of our ability to prepare for the upcoming Virsliga championship we made the call not to cancel the game.
The escalation in Ukraine today had assured and helped us not to repeat such a mistake again and we have made a decision not to go ahead with our February 27th match that was scheduled to be played against Metallurg Lipetsk.
In these challenging times, we are going through it all alongside our Ukrainian boys. Their concerns about their loved ones, about their country, are also our concerns. These are testing times for each and every one of us. We want to let you all know that we condemn open aggression from Russia that currently is targeted towards Ukraine. We are saying NO to war.
Слава Україні! Героям слава!
