Optibet Virsliga 19th round game brought Valmiera FC their 15th victory in a row – this time beating Riga FC with a score of 2:0. In the history of Latvian highest level football, this means a repeat of a record within a single season.
The opener of the second part of the season Valmiera FC began with a very beautiful goal when in the 13th minute of the match Raimonds Krollis shot with his left leg from 20 meters sending the ball into the upper corner.
Riga FC instantly started searching for an equalizer and managed to get the control of the game in their hands – unlucky for them our defense was sound and fit to negate whatever would come.
Even more so – our counter-attacks were so dangerous that the opponent often had to make a foul. One of which turned into an 11-meter penalty kick. Daisuke Yokota stepped up but unfortunately didn’t score thus ending the first half with a 1:0 lead.
In the second half, Riga FC was even more lively and they seemed to want a comeback even more – but their attacking episodes weren’t that dangerous and Rihards Matrevics managed to deal with anything that came his way.
Valmiera FC players did their part on counters and in one of those our Japanese players worked out a goal – Masaki Murata passed to Daisuke Yokota who was entering the penalty area and a very easy but precise shot was unleashed making the goalie a spectator of the goal. The final frame of the game was left without goals thus handing us a very important victory with a score of 2:0.
Our next game will be played on Thursday (30.06) when at Jana Dalina stadium we will be hosting Jurmalas Spartaks team.
