Valmiera FC Championship title hopes in the last round ended with the BFC Daugavpils team failing to show real resistance to the RFS losing after all with 0:2. Basically, Tamaz Pertia’s men did not cope with the task in the game against Riga FC in Skonto stadium too; this game ended with 0:0.
As a result, FK Liepaja concluded this year’s TOP3, who, in the last round, were able to overtake the three-time Latvian champions thanks to their victory over Spartaks and Riga FC draw against us.
2nd place clinched by Valmiera are the biggest success in the club’s history thus far. This is also the third season in a row in which we climbed place higher, in 2019 4th place, 2020. 3rd place and now 2nd place in 2021. We had never been so close in fighting for the championship title.
Thanks to all the supporters, fans and Valmiera City for their warm support throughout the season. If we have failed to bring European football to Valmiera in the past two years, then we have very reasonable expectations to finally achieve it in the 2022 season.
The new season for the Valmiera team and the city in which football lives is already in the process of being particularly exciting. We’re looking forward to all this.
