On Wednesday afternoon, Jana Dalina Stadium hosted the postponed match of the 24th round of Optibet Virsliga between Valmiera FC and SK Super Nova Salaspils. The duel ended in a 1:1 draw in two entirely different halves.
The introduction of the match was quite careful, with both teams scouting the opponent, but the optimal pace was quickly adapted. The first scoring opportunity for Alioune Ndoye – he received the ball near the penalty area, followed by movements that made it possible to set up a good position for a kick. A sizzling answer was offered by the opponent, who went on the attack in the composition of three men, Niks Sliede had to fight there, the shot followed, but it was inaccurate. Moments later, Maksims Tonisevs, on duty on the right wing, saw an opportunity to pass – the ball was sent to Ndoye, but he failed to get it, instead, Niks Dusalijevs attacked with the ball. A duel with the goalkeeper followed, who was not destined to make a save and Valmiera took the lead.
In the following period, quite a remarkable performance from Super Nova footballers, who managed to recover the lost goal – a cross in the penalty area, the Jevgenijs Minins at the rebound, followed by a strong shot, which Sliede inadvertently corrected, and a draw was registered on the scoreboard. Jurgis Kalns made two substitutions after conceding the goal, thus ending the first half.
After a very hot half-time break, the players of Valmiera went to the pitch with the confidence that three points should fall into their pockets. A wave of attacks from the beginning until the last minute. Gustavo, who came to the field, had opportunities to score goals and shots for Fraj Kairmani and Alioune Ndoye, but the ball did not want to make its second visit to Kudrjavcevs’s goal.
