Following an Optibet Virsliga 16th round victory against FK Liepaja (3:1) Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his comments and thoughts with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: ”We started off well but after our own mistake conceded a goal. During the half-time, I told my team that they are not a Top 4 team right now and we have to score three or four goals, to finish off the game. Now we want to switch off for four or five days because we have some time off, of course, it’s different for the national team players. We wanted to enter the break in a good mood, to go into it as the real leaders of Virsliga because until yesterday we weren’t in such a position. Now I hope that people will start to respect us because a leader is the one that sits at the top of the standings. Today was a very important game and we already spoke with the team prior to the match that we have to start running away, we have to increase the gap. We know that it will be hard but not impossible. It’s our view on the remainder of the season.
