Convicing victory against RFS

23 June 2022

In the game of the 18th round of the Optibet Virsliga, at home – in Janis Dalins stadium, Valmiera FC won a convincing victory, beating RFS footballers 4:0.

Janis Dalins Stadium experienced an impressive match between the holders of the first two places in the table. At the beginning of the game, both teams went to look for their opportunities, creating moments that allowed the spectators to enjoy the football being watched. Valmiera FC footballers attacked more dangerously, forcing RFS goalkeeper Cernauskas to make many saves. In the first half, the promising opportunities failed to take advantage, which meant a draw after 45 minutes of play.

The second half continued to be played in the same manner with Valmiera FC controlling things on the pitch – in the 52nd minute of the game Djibril Gueye entered the penalty area and was tripped over which meant that an 11-meter penalty was taken – Camilo Mena stepped up and sent the ball into the left side of the net to make it 1:0.

RFS took advantage for a little while but their shots never reached goalkeeper Rihads Matrevics. The key moment of the game arrived in the 84th minute when after multiple substitutions Luka Silagadze shined and sent the ball to Pape Yare Fall in the penalty area who without hesitation beat the opposing goalkeeper for the second time to double the lead.

Three minutes late Silagadze was once again dangerous near the opposing goal and he was tripped over – yet another 11-meter penalty and this time he took things into his own hands, scoring an exact same way as Mena had done previously.

In the extra time of the second half, the finishing touch was put to the foundation as Daisuke Yokota passed to Alioune Ndoye who then swiftly beat the goalkeeper for the 4th time in the match making the final result 4:0.

Our next game will be played on Sunday (26.06) when we will be visiting Skonto Stadium to play against the Riga FC team.
