A single goal victory against Super Nova

19 June 2022

Valmiera FC returned from the international break to clutch out a win against SK Super Nova in the 17th round of Optibet Virsliga.

Both teams began playing very actively without hesitating to go forward. At the beginning of the first half, the visiting side went to look for luck in front of Valmiera’s net where there was a sure opportunity to score. Still, Daniels Balodis neutralized it, following which Daisuke Yokota found himself a golden chance to score but the ball was turned away by the goalkeeper.

Following that opportunity the game was in the hands of our team where many chances to open up these scoring were had but no luck in the first forty-five minutes.

For the second half, Jurgis Kalns made two substitutions sending Masaki Murata and Pape Yare Fall on the pitch. Both players entered the game in an exemplary manner, while Fall demonstrated exceptional strength having had scoring chances while also trying to deliver the ball to his teammates.

In the 60th minute of the game, Fall sent the ball to Camilo Mena who made no mistake addressing it further for Daisuke Yokota who this time assured that his kick wouldn’t be saved and the score would now become 1:0.

After the goal the dangerous attacks continued, and many shots followed. Some of them even ended their way into the opposing net but were disallowed due to offside calls. The score remained the same and that meant a minimal victory against the SK Super Nova team.

Our next game will be played on Wednesday when at Jana Dalina stadium we will host last year’s champions FK RFS.
