Valmiera FC has resumed pre-season action since returning home and announced the fourth addition to the squad for the upcoming 2024 Virsliga season.
23-year-old left-back Carlos Duke from Tokyo, Japan has become the newest member of the team. During his career, Duke has played in the second and third divisions in Japan representing Fagiano Okayama, Machida Zelvia, Nagano Parceiro, and finally SC Sagamihara totaling 47 appearances across all competitions whilst adding two goals in 2022 with the Nagano team.
Carlos Duke: ”I like it here. Teammates have been very nice to me. There are a lot of players with big energy in this team and they always like to give a helping hand. I’m always working hard as I want to chase my dreams and this team will be very good for me. The mentality here is a little bit different from Japan, everyone is so focused and hungry to win. If we make mistakes people here come over to help and give good advice. As for myself, I’m a hardworking player who runs a lot. I especially enjoy attacking and supporting the team on defense. Turkey camp was very hard for me and it was my first experience with such workload. I have never experienced two sessions in a day but it was a really good opportunity for me to better understand things. The weather in Latvia is very different, at first it was really hard with snow and everything but now I’m used to it and I’m ready to play football in Virsliga.”
Welcome to Valmiera, Duke!
