The crucial battles in the Optibet Virsliga championship have started, each of the following can make a difference in the allocation of final positions in this season. In one of the last games at home, Valmiera FC beat FK Liepāja (1:0) in a convincing game, while RFS lost points playing draw (1:1) with FK Spartaks Jūrmala, allowing Valmiera to get even closer in the race for gold.
In the first few minutes, Tamaz Pertia’s men dominated all over the place, creating several chances to score. Unfortunately, none of this was realized. Valmiera’s forwards made shots on goalkeeper, wide, over the goal from a distance of two meters, only not in the coveted goal.
A similar scenario also continued at the beginning of the second half-time. Finally, Alioune Ndoye scored the only goal of the game in the 64 th minute, following an excellent pass by Alvis Jaunzems. During the rest of the game, a number of options were culled while the Liepaja attackers did the same with their only two throughout the game.
The final result of 1:0 doesn’t necessarily represent the script of this game. But the main thing was that three points were won, and now we’re two points behind the RFS (24 games) – 56 against 54 (also 24 games for us), while Riga FC’s 47 points in the 24 games give them the third place.
In the next game on October 23 (at 14.00) we will meet the Spartaks team in the stadium of Sloka. On 27 October (15.00) we will host Riga FC at Valmiera Olympic center stadium.
