As the pre-season preparation phase is rapidly approaching, Valmiera FC has announced the eighth addition to the squad for the upcoming Tonybet Virsliga season.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper Davis Oss from Limbazi has joined Vidzeme’s strongest football club. Davis has 158 matches at the Virsliga level representing FK Metta, FK Spartaks Jurmala, Riga FC, and FK Liepaja. The goalkeeper has experience in the Latvian Cup and Optibet Nakotnes Liga tournaments. During his career, he received calls from national teams of various ages.
Dāvis Oss: “About a week has passed since I joined the team, the guys received me well. There are a lot of known and familiar players here that I have played with before. I will say that I feel perfect. Valmiera is a young team, when I played for Metta, I had a similar experience – the main difference is that here the team has bigger goals and higher ambitions. I want to help the team achieve the set goals, of course, individuals also have their own goals, and I want to play as many games as possible. I consider the game on the goal line to be my strength, I am tall, and there are not many such goalkeepers in the Virsliga. I am no stranger to duels, I can also perform when leaving the goal. I spent the last season in Liepaja, so this micro match will be important for me, such games help me get in a better mood, focus more to show my former team what I am capable of, and allow my new team to win. At the end of the previous season, I was looking for a team outside of Latvia, everything dragged on a bit, and then an offer from Valmiera FC followed, which I agreed to without much thought. As I said, the team has big ambitions, a good team, I’m happy to be here. Of course, it was a bit of a surprise because in Valmiera they work with new players, I am currently the oldest in the team, this will be a new experience, a new challenge.”
