In the game of the 32nd round of the Optibet Virsliga, Valmiera FC played at home whilst making a return to VOC stadium, in a game that ended in a win (2:1) against the FK Auda team.
The match against Auda started with a little sleepiness on our side, allowing the guests to take the initiative. They also scored the first goal – an opponent’s player fell in the penalty area, which meant that the referee would whistle with the message that a penalty kick should be taken. Guest player Minchev was accurate and took the lead for his team.
Their attacking maelstrom continued, another chance for Minchev, but Rihards Matrevics denied his chance. Two identical attacks by us followed, in which Pape Yare Fall crossed the ball close to the goal, if the opponent’s goalkeeper successfully played the first time, then the second time Raimonds Krollis stood out the in the air and equalized the game.
In the remaining time in the first half, the teams exchanged moments, kindnesses, and ball control time – a draw after the first 45 minutes. On the other hand, in the second half, the team came out defiantly, motivated to win.
Of course, it worked, already in the 50th minute of the game, Camilo Mena broke into the penalty area, but he did not manage to reach the goal – a foul followed and again a penalty kick, this time in our favor. Our captain came to the ball, Krollis’ shot was convincing – the goalkeeper guessed the direction of the kick, but did not reach the ball.
Until the end of the game, we managed to dictate the events on the pitch, however, the opponents exerted enormous pressure. Our defense got a workload, but the good news – everything was done accurately and a 2:1 victory was earned.
The team will play its next game on Sunday (23.10), as guests, at the Tukums city stadium against the Tukums 2000/Telms team.
