During the international break, Valmiera FC continues to prepare for the continuation of the Optibet Virsliga season. After a short rest, and returning to training, the week ended with a test match against the FK Metta team. Alioune Ndoye scored three times this time, and a 3:3 draw was recorded.
The match on the Baltic Sports Village pitch started with attacks by the Valmiera team, meanwhile, the Metta team was able to respond with quite threatening counterattacks. The result of the game was revealed only in the 45th minute of the duel. There was a foul in the penalty area and the match referee pointed to the penalty mark. This opportunity was realized by Correa, whose sent ball Carlos Olses could not save.
For the second half, Jurgis Kalns made four changes. When Olses left the pitch, Klavs Lauva entered the goal, Kristers Cudars went on the pitch instead to replace Tiago, Gustavo was replaced by Artyom Mylchenko, while Ndoye rushed instead of Ruan in the attack. The show could start then too.
First, Senegalese Ndoye took advantage of his opportunity, scoring a goal with the help of an 11-meter penalty kick, but a few minutes later he also completed a double and achieved a 2-1 lead. Ironically, every goal of Alioune was followed by Metta’s answer – the result became 2:2.
Towards the end of the match, Ndoye went on another attack, quickly running into the penalty area, outrunning several players and powerfully hitting the ball into the goal, returning the team to the lead. But the joy was short-lived again because after a while the ball once again found its way into the goal guarded by Lauva. Although both teams tried to win in the final minutes, the game ended in a draw.
Our squad: Olses (46′ Lauva), Tiago (46′ Čudars), Veips(c), Dusalijevs, Penaloza, Kairmani, Korobenko, Gustavo (46′ Mylchenko), Diop (69′ Tanaka), Ruan (46′ Ndoye), Gaucho (78′ Pulis)
We will play our next game on Sunday (17.09) when the team will go to the windy city to play against the FK Liepāja team in the Optibet Virsliga.
