In the 14th round match of Optibet Virsliga with a great celebration of football, the Valmiera FC team returned to Jana Dalina stadium where in front of over 1000 spectators a 2:0 victory against FK Auda was earned.
The game was played in rainy conditions which allowed the game to be even more entertaining for the spectators. And even though the opponents controlled the ball more in the first half everyone could be on the edges of their seats as Raimonds Krollis had the first real opportunity from distance which the opposing goalkeeper didn’t expect – still managed to barely, but make the save.
Our counters kept being dangerous as Djibril Gueye had two amazing opportunities from close range, still, Ondoa kept the ball out. The only notes in the game protocol were made by bookings of yellow cards – in the span of 22 minutes Auda players got three while the lone booking for Ivan Zhelizko on the Valmiera side.
The second half began the celebration as Valmiera beat Auda twice. First up was Emils Birka who found Alioune Ndoye for him to try to break through but he was covered by two opposing players, yet somehow managed to find Raimonds Krollis who gave his team a lead. The second goal was scored in the 62nd minute of the game when Krollis sent an air-ball for Alvis Jaunzems, who then quickly found Ndoye who had his back turned against the net but that caused no issues – he used his heel to make it 2:0 via a beautiful goal.
In the rest of the half, there was a big pressure from Auda which was survived with a few other scoring chances – the best one by Daisuke Yokota who seemed to have scored to then only be stopped by the referee’s flag that showed an off-side. Yet the score of the game remained unchanged so that everyone could celebrate a beautiful victory on a return home to Jana Dalina stadium.
Our next game will be played away at Tukums when we will face Tukums 2000/Telms team. The start time of the game – is 18:30.
