Four goal victory against Jelgava

28 May 2024

In the 16th round of the Tonybet Virsliga, Valmiera FC hosted the FS Jelgava team at home – Janis Dalins Stadium. The game’s result indicated a convincing victory with 4:0, but there were moments when the breath caught because it was not that simple. Opponents’ counter-attacks tended to be worrisome, but all ended well.

The introduction of the game was a little nervous, although, from the very first minutes, the control of the game was in the hands of the home team. We had to wrestle a little and the first goal of the game came. Sharp attack, in which Alioune Ndoye took a pause, found Lukass Vapne near the penalty area – a shot without hesitation and the ball into the goal.

At the same pace as the first half, both teams had chances, but the ball did not plan to find its way into the goal. At the end, there was a surprise – the teams almost had to make their way to the dressing rooms, but Vapne had other plans. Once again the ball went to the midfielder. This time Emils Birka threw the ball to a similar position as in the first scored goal, the result became 2:0.

Lukass continued to fire in the second half, looking for a hat-trick, this time he was not lucky, but he handed the other goals brilliantly to his teammates. In the 65th minute, Vapne’s shot at the goal, the ball rebounded, but with the second ball, Djibril Gueye – landed it in an empty right side of the goal without any hesitation. Fantastic emotions and joy at the Janis Dalins Stadium.

Nothing was over after the third goal either. To put an end to the game, Jeremy Porsan-Clemente demonstrated his hitting power. A powerful long shot and also in this situation no hope for Jelgava goalkeeper Vjaceslavs Kudrjavcevs. Beautiful, effective and that’s how we can describe the whole game. Jelgava had a few more attempts to score an honorable goal, but Davis Oss had plans to keep his fortress dry.

We will play our next game on Saturday (01.06) when the team will travel to Latgale to battle with the BFC Daugavpils team. For some time, we haven’t been able to win an away game against the team but it is time to change that.
