Fourth consecutive victory

The team of Valmiera FC led by Jurģis Kalns in the 8th round of Optibet futbola Virsliga convincingly defeated SK Super Nova with 5:1 (2:1) on away game.

From the first minutes of the match, it was clear that it won’t be an easy walk for the home team – Valmiera’s “attacking machine” demonstrated active and combinational football, threatening Kristaps Zommer’s goal time after time. 21 minutes in the game and the first goal was scored, when after the pass from Camilo Mena Djibril Gueye scored his second goal in this season – 1:0.

Ten minutes later, after a great team play, Daisuke Yokota broke into the Super Nova penalty box and doubled the score – 2:0.

At the very end of the first half, after the chain of mistakes from Valmiera footballers, Ričards Rullis put himself on a score sheet making – 2:1.

Early in starting of the second half time the result was triggered very quickly to 4:1 – first, after Olgerds Rascevskis cross from the right wing Valmiera’s captain Raimonds Krollis sent the ball into the net from close range, immediately Mena scored his goal after the error made by one of the players from Super Nova while mistakenly passing the ball back.

The final score was set in the 70th minute – Meissa Diop attempted a perfect cross in the penalty area right where Roman Yakuba met the ball with his head, sending it to the net one more time. The question of the winner of this game left no doubt a single moment.

This victory and the loss of the current tournament leaders and our next rivals FK Liepaja (April 27, 18.00 VOC) have allowed our team to get closer to the big four (including Riga FC).
