Following a defeat (1:2) in the UEFA Conference league 3rd qualifying round against FK Partizani Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his thoughts and comments with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: “Very good first half, I think we were the best team on the pitch. At the beginning of the second half, Gustavo had a chance to score the second goal in a good episode. I imagine if that had happened, the game would have ended very differently. Sitting down a little, the sides sat down, the middle could no longer get out, the legs sat down and the opponent felt that they could play. It was what I was talking about before, you had to start playing with the ball so that the opponent is afraid. We succeeded in the first half, convincingly succeeded. There were episodes where we made rather childish mistakes and the Partizan team realized that they could play, in the second half they felt it completely. Felt control of the ball, felt that they can play with us, that we are not that scary. As I said, did not know what to expect from us, and showed a completely different game. The two conceded goals, which I don’t want to comment on, were both unfortunate episodes, slipping twice, we conceded two silly goals in the game we should have won. Unfortunately, we had to admit the superiority of the opponents, but there is a second game – another 90 minutes. After what I saw today, I am positive about the possibility of getting out of this round.”
