Following Tonybet Virsliga’s 7th-round win against FS Jelgava (3:0) Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his comments and thoughts with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurģis Kalns: “I am glad we are back on the winning track. Thanks to the fans who came from Valmiera and supported us again, like every game. Much respect, much respect to them for that. Speaking of the game, we want to go back to the previous two games where we played quite well. There were a total of 46 shots in two games, some 26 corners, and only one goal scored – then we knew that at some point the goals must start coming. Today was probably the first three of those, with more to come. Perhaps the team will open up even more and feel the taste of those goals because the previous two games showed that luck had disappeared somewhere. As I said, we played well, but we didn’t manage to score, so today it’s good that they came first in the first half. In the second half, we showed the boys the free zones of Jelgava, which we showed them before the game – in the first half, reluctantly, we hardly used it. We started to use the things that we talked about, hence a natural result and a natural three points in the table.”
