Following an Optibet Virsliga 27th-round loss against Riga FC (0:3) Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his comments and thoughts with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurģis Kalns: “I think we played 77 fantastic minutes. Two equal teams, a very good game until the break, I would like to say so. After the second goal and the red card, it was clear that the game was over. Riga led the game to a devastating result, but it does not change the essence of the matter, we are satisfied. In the dressing room, the players themselves said that they finally had the necessary dedication and passion. On the pitch, we saw a team that fights for points, tries to pass, and is not afraid of the opponent. In principle, trying to impose our style of play, which we succeeded in, it is a pity that the first goal fell from a standard situation. Tonišev put the episode to sleep with Balodi and that goal came out of nowhere. Riga also had a goalpost, but the game itself was without particularly sharp moments – exactly what we needed.”
