After the UEFA Europe Conference league game between Valmiera FC and FC Shkendija (2:1) – Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his thoughts to the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: ”These games consist of four halves and it is a positive thing – we talked about it, and tried to calm the guys down after the first half. You have to remember how we began our championship against Riga, we didn’t know what to expect. A good team with good surnames, the pressure that we had prior to that game came up again today. After the game, I told the players that it is very normal for such a young team. We tried to distract them from it – these are Euro Cups, for many players, this is the first experience, for some it is only the second, and there obviously was pressure. We were both blind and deaf, we didn’t help each other. We made childish mistakes that were not necessary but these things happen. This game reminded me of the game against Riga, if you remember, we made a comeback after that match and I am convinced that the same thing will happen a week later in Skopje. We all know what karma is. We have to go into the next game and it will be a very different Valmiera team. It’s a good thing that there are four halves and we have a chance to fix our errors.”
