Following Tonybet Virsliga’s 12th-round draw against Riga FC (1:1) Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns shared his comments and thoughts with the media.
Valmiera FC head coach Jurgis Kalns: “I think the game did not disappoint us coaches or the spectators. The game was fast, from one goal to the other, with many transitions. I was surprised that this was our first game on a green pitch, but the legs did not get heavy as quickly as I expected. Therefore, the quality of the kicks was lacking, the important kicks, it was a transition and the legs were heavy at the end. Somewhere we didn’t use those moments as much as we would have liked, but I think that can be changed over time. Let’s adapt to the pitches. It’s a pretty tough pitch here, it’s the first time for us this season, Riga had an advantage, they played the third game in a row on this pitch. I told the guys that it’s nice to have a team sitting there in the dressing room who are angry because everyone saw that we could have taken the three points today. It’s a pity that it didn’t work out, but a draw against Riga, against one of the main contenders for the title – I think that in a game like this, with so many opportunities, thanks guys, they can be proud of their performance today. That’s what I told them, there’s nothing to worry about. We did our job, everything that depended on us to get a point today. We always want more, it’s a pity that it didn’t work out.”
