18 September 2022

In the game of the 29th round of the Optibet Virsliga, Valmiera FC was a guest, at the Jurmala city stadium ”Sloka” and managed to beat FK Jurmala Spartaks with a score of 6:1.

The introduction of the match left no doubt about the winner of the game, however, in the first half, Valmiera had to fight for their place under the sun. Although the first great moment was not used, the result of the game was revealed in the 10th minute of the game, when Raimonds Krollis got to the ball after a corner kick, his action brought the ball directly to the head of Djibril Gueye, who made it 1-0.

4 minutes later, another corner, the ball bounced from Roman Yakuba, and Kristers Cudars was the first to get to it. The defender of the team did not hesitate for a moment and immediately made a productive shot, doubling the lead on the scoreboard.

The joys of the comfortable lead were short-lived, Cudars, who scored a goal earlier, tried to play with Rihards Matrevics, and an error occurred – the goalkeeper did not manage to control the ball and it rolled into the goal. One goal was recovered for the home team, and the end of the second half was very nervous, which was punctuated by another goal, but this time, Klavs Kramens, from Spartaks, kicked the ball into his own goal. The result after the first half is 3:1.

The second half came with changes on the pitch for Valmiera – Jurģis Kalns made the first substitution, sending Luka Silagade onto the pitch, the player created great moments, but the Georgian failed to score. As the result grew, the line-up of the team on the field changed a lot.

In the 68th minute, Camilo Mena perfectly worked out his last moments on the pitch, when after Daisuke Yokota’s kick, Mena rushed to the rebound and confidently finished it into the empty corner of the goal.

The next to say his word was Pape Yare Fall, who was handed the ball by Silagadze in the penalty area. Rushing forward, already falling down, the Senegalese defender took advantage of the goalkeeper’s mistake and made it 5-1.

The game finisher was scored by another substitute – Lukass Vapne. Great play in the penalty area between Diop Meissa and Jorginho, who tricked the opponent, finding an easy, safe pass to Vapne, who followed with a very accurate strike just under the crossbar. Valmiera FC restored a seven-point advantage over the closest follower – the Riga FC team, continuing to hold down their position in the first place of the Optibet Virsliga.

Our next game will be played after the international break when we will visit Daugavpils on Sunday (02.10) to play against the BFC Daugavpils team.
