Līvāni Crushed in First Round Finale

9 June 2025

With a resounding 7:0 victory over FK Līvāni in Jēkabpils, Valmiera FC, led by Gatis Kalniņš, wrapped up the first round of the Altero.lv LIIGA at the top of the table, finishing with 19 points — one ahead of their closest rivals, FS Jelgava-2.

In Sunday’s match, any suspense about the outcome ended before it even began. Just six minutes in, after a brilliant short-passing sequence, Ritvars Krists Zauska was sent through on goal and calmly slotted home to make it 1:0. Valmiera kept pushing, and by the 22nd minute, they had already added three more:

Zauska turned provider, cutting the ball across the goal to Yusuke Omori — 2:0

A pinpoint pass from Ēriks Maurs-Boks found captain Mārcis Ērglis, who made no mistake — 3:0

Another Zauska solo run ended with a sharp layoff to Omori, who weaved through the defense and beat the keeper with style — 4:0

Early in the second half, after a free kick from Ērglis, substitute Rinalds Krists Freilihs headed in a beauty to make it 5:0. Despite a few promising attempts, Edgars Gauračs once again couldn’t get on the scoresheet himself, but his involvement led to two more goals:

In the 79th minute, Omori pounced on a rebound to complete his hat-trick — 6:0

Moments later, Kristians Kovačs added the seventh in identical fashion — 7:0

With this dominant display, Valmiera closes the first half of the season on a high note.

The second round of the season begins on June 15 at 14:00, with an away match against Rīgas Futbola Skola at Jānis Skredelis Stadium.
