In the final championship game ahead of the forthcoming UEFA Conference league first qualifying round games against FK Sūduva, Valmiera FC defeated BFC Daugavpils with 4:0 at Daugava Stadium in Riga.
This game will be remembered by the fact that two of our club’s leading footballers – Jorginho and Alioune Ndoye made a spectacular return after seven months of absence caused by the injuries.
The first goal in the game was scored in the 13th minute when the penalty was awarded after a superb performance by Jorginho in the guest penalty area. The penalty was carried out by the team’s captain, Raimonds Krollis. In an instantly high-paced game, the second goal was scored in the closing moments of the first half, when Djibril Gueye hit the ball into an empty goal after Krollis excellent dribble and pass.
In the second half, the result wasn’t stirred until the 86 th minute of the game, although the opportunities for doing so came for both teams, at least four of them for Valmiera. The third and fourth goals, in excellent style, only shortly after coming on, were scored by Alioune Ndoye, the first with a head after Luka Silagadze’s well-executed free-kick, and the second after the pass of his countryman Ibrahima Sow right front of the goal.
This game for Tamaz Pertia team was like a kind of general try before the upcoming response game on July 15 against FK Sūduva in the same stadium. But first, we concentrate on away game on July 8 (19.00) in Marijampole. The next championship game is scheduled for July 18. 16.00 (the location will be reviewed).
