The 13th round of Optibet Virsliga brought Valmiera FC to windy Tukums artificial grass pitch. An emotional and hard-fought battle but the scoresheet stood as it was at the beginning of the match. A draw (0:0) was registered and both teams earned one point.
From the first minutes, Valmiera FC controlled things on the pitch while Tukums offered scoring chances. Carlos Olses had to do plenty in his goal to make the saves. The first chance was already in the fifth minute. During the first half, both teams exchanged their promising attacks.
Towards the equatorial of the game, Raivis Kirss offered his attacking expertise. The ball was sent towards the goal from mid-range, luckily both posts were involved in assuring that the ball wouldn’t go in.
For the second half, Jurgis Kalns made two substitutions – Maksims Tonisevs replaced Meissa Diop and Gustavo Silva came on the pitch in place of Emils Birka. That seemed to have sparked the game slightly but the events that followed were unpleasant.
Valmiera FC was the better on the other side of the match and offered their attempts in the attacking end, however, those wouldn’t connect. Tukums defense was surprisingly convincing. Some yellow cards here and there turned the match into a rough battle.
The 90th minute brought a surprise – first Fraj Kairmani received a straight red and was sent off the pitch. He will miss the next match. The calm personality of Jurgis Kalns? An expected yellow minutes later meaning that he would also be out for the home game against Daugavpils.
The game action was obviously frustrating and as the final whistle was blown – no goals to show, one point for each team.
Our next game will be played on Monday when at Jana Dalina stadium we will be hosting the BFC Daugavpils team.
