Our unbeaten run continues

11 April 2021

On Matchday number 4 of the Optibet futbola Virslīga with an away victory over FK Liepāja (2:1), Valmiera FC has extended their run of games without losing up to four.

Valmiera head coach Tamaz Pertia has not made changes to his starting eleven since the last game with FK Ventspils compared to more than a few in the opponent’s lineup.

It was Joyskim Dawa who opened the scoreline of this game in the 32nd minute by putting a ball into the net with his head after the cross from the corner kick delivered by Luka Silagadze.

Shortly after on the 40th minute, sadly, it was him again who was making headlines not the author of the goal — Arturs Karasausks. Lazy back pass by the Valmiera full-back was an easy catch for the leader of the Liepāja team.

The game-winning goal for Valmiera was scored by Ibrahima Sow in the 58th minute, his second in this season thus far. Despite the desperate attacks by the home team in the remaining minutes of this game, we were closer to a third goal than them to equalize the score.

Not as noticeable as in previous games, but this was no exception when it comes to a scoring chance converted to a goal. In total, we’ve five chances in this game compared to Liepāja’s two. In the fourth game in a row, we are winning challenges win percentage as well.

The next game will be held on April 19 (18.00) in Valmiera (VOC), playing against FK Spartaks Jūrmala.
