Sliede, Penkevics and Raščevskis help win the Baltic Cup

The Latvian U-21 national team has won the Baltic Cup for the second time in a row and the fourth time in history, with a victory over their Estonian peers in the final. In both games of the tournament, the Latvians defeated their opponents with the help of the post-match penalty shoot-outs, first of all, playing in a draw with Lithuania (1:1 (4:2)) in the regular time and then in the final with Estonia (3:3 (4:2)).

Valmiera FC defender Niks Sliede played from bell to bell in both games, midfielder Olģerds Raščevskis, who is loaned to BFC Daugavpils this year, started both games in the starting line-up, in addition, midfielder Kristers Penkevics came on as a substitute at the end of the game in both games and adding a wining goal in post-match penalty shoot-out against Estonians.

This year’s Baltic Cup competition for U-21 national teams took place in Estonia. Finland beat Lithuania 2:0 in the game for third place.
