In the 24th round match of Optibet Virsliga, Valmiera FC beat Tukums 2000/Telms with a convincing score of 6:1.
The game set off to be loaded with goals as entertainment for the spectators, although at first, the game seemed slow-paced with both teams playing more in the middle of the pitch instead of the final third.
Masaki Murata scored the first goal of the match – in the 20th minute, Camilo Mena went in deep to find a pass for Murata, who entered the penalty area and kicked the ball past the goalkeeper for the first time in the match.
Shortly after Raimonds Krollis received the ball from a corner kick to then simply finish off the sequence with a goal as he was the first person to reach the ball.
A few counterattacks later from the Tukums team – Valmiera FC’s Alvis Jaunzems once again made an effort to cross the ball into the penalty area to which the opponent answered with an own goal making it 3:0 just 37 minutes into the game.
The first half ended with yet another goal – this time it was Murata who set up Djibril Gueye with a cross that was finished off with a header.
In the second half, Jurgis Kalns made substitutions which sped up the pace of the game massively. The rain of goals continued. In the 54th minute, Camilo Mena shot from a distance to increase the gap by five goals.
A very dominant effort but a dangerous sequence grew in our end of the pitch – Rihards Matrevics seemingly scrambled in despair but the ball never crossed the line so that the game would continue with a five-goal lead.
The train of goals was finished off by Emils Birka, who followed Luka Silagadze into the penalty area – a fast and precise pass followed for the Latvian defender to put the ball into the far lower corner of the net.
A defensive error in the final minute of the match – Matrevics made the initial save and a corner followed from which the opposing player used his head to score the goal and the game ended with a score of 6:1.
Our next game will be played on the 14th of August when in the Latvian Cup we will host the FK Auda team. The start of the game – 18:00 at Jana Dalina stadium.
