Team work makes the dream work

16 May 2024

Tonybet Virsliga’s 13th round match – the first at the Jana Dalina Stadium this season. FK Auda, the team that beat Valmiera FC in the first round were the visitors. It was an extravagant duel, two saved penalty kicks, intrigue, and a fight for every centimeter of the pitch. This time the opponent was beaten and won 2:1.

When the game started, it was felt that the green grass would open the football. Both teams played quite actively, but the home team had the initiative. The fortress of Krisjanis Zviedris was threatened several times – without a result, the goalkeeper worked perfectly. Couple more episodes where the ball flew over the goal.

Auda also had the first goal-scoring opportunity but then a fiasco, after which a penalty kick was earned. Alioune Ndoye came to the ball, his shot was saved. Two minutes later, another golden opportunity was saved, the team playing in orange shirts was rescued by the goalpost. Moments like gold, opportunities like platinum, but the series of failures in the attack continued – a crossbar.

As our attacks continued, goals were brewing, but they did not come from play. The mistake was made Zviedris, who hit Djibril Gueye in the face while trying to play the ball in the air. The Senegalese is on the ground and a penalty is awarded again. Jeremy Porsan-Clemente took the initiative, convincingly, accurately, and finally 1:0.

Auda responded with a triple substitution in the closing episodes of the first half. Perhaps this move worked in favor of the opponent. A little confusion at the beginning of the second half as well, the guests immediately took the lead. They knew how to use it – a shot at the goal, the ball hit Daniels Balodis’s leg – the ball found its way into the goal.

Mora Talla, and Reginaldo Ramiress – both tried to demonstrate what they were capable of, but Davis Oss was fully involved in the game. Likewise, the defensive unit worked closely. There was a situation where everyone present caught their breath – a long pause, a long video review, and an 11-meter penalty kick on our goal. There, too, Oss is perfect – Ramires is left without celebration.

The response move followed at the very end of the game – Jurgis Kalns, as usual, sent Jason Bahamboula onto the pitch, he cunningly found Emils Birkas’ pass in the penalty area and headed the final score of the game 2:1.

We will play our next game on Monday (20.05), when the road to windy Liepāja is ahead – a battle against the Grobina SC/LFS team.
