Valmiera FC hosted FK Liepaja in the 6th round of the Tonybet Virsliga. A game in which we did everything but score a goal did not allow us to win important points in the standings, suffering a 0-1 loss.
From the first steps, the control of the game and the dictation of the rules fell into the hands of the home team. Different range of attacks but the finishing touch was lacking. Liepaja occasionally offered attacks from the left side, but the potential for horror was eradicated.
In one of Liepaja’s attacks, a skill error, Niks Sliede stepped on the ball, trying to finish the episode, followed by a foul, after which both the yellow card and the free-kick. Luka Silagadze stepped in front of the ball and scored on the visitors’ only shot on goal – unfortunately, it was effective and 0:1 on the scoreboard.
We ended the first half by attacking, this kind of game continued in the second half as well – many attacks, many shots, but missed, over or through the goal post. Liepaja’s penalty area was not a walking path, you had to fight. Jason Bahamboula, who came to the pitch at the end of the match, showed his ability to create three goals quickly. No matter how hard he tried, the ball did not get into Liepaja’s goal.
We will play our next game on Thursday (15.04) when in an away match the team will have to play against the FS Jelgava team.
