Third lap begins with a loss

25 June 2023

The international break ended, and Valmiera FC traveled to LNK Sports Park where they were set to meet against the FK RFS team. This time in a close match on the pitch the result wasn’t favorable as Valmiera lost, 0:3 the final score.

Many expected Camilo Mena to dress for the visiting side, however, head coach Jurgis Kalns elected to leave him behind, at home to prepare for games down the road.

Straight from the kick-off it seemed like the game would be joyful on both ends of the pitch. First Emerson demonstrated his abilities but Klavs Lauva was there to stop him. Meissa Diop responded with a chance after a cross but it was no good.

RFS started to spin their wheels and the team went into a new gear to speed things up – a corner followed and that cost a goal – Ziga Lipuscek beat Klavs Lauva for the first time in the game.

After the goal, Valmiera FC players did showcase that they were not going to give up and went up the pitch assuming responsibility to take the game into their own hands. More scoring chances were exchanged but the score remained the same 0:1 after the first half.

The second half kicked off with Valmiera continuing offensive efforts to try and find a goal that would lead to something. Sadly the chances were slim and RFS’ substitution worked – Ismael Diomande got his first of the game to double the score and then in the 79th minute he got his second goal to grant the end score – 3:0.

Our next game will be played on Thursday (29.06) when Jana Dalina Stadium will invite Tamaz Pertia and his FK Liepaja team.
