Tonybet Virsliga 14th round match – Valmiera FC vs. Grobinas SC/LFS. Very engaging game, with both teams trying to show the best of their available qualities. Two goals from our Senegalese boys gave a safe, full-fledged 2-0 victory, taking home three points from Liepāja.
The game started very smoothly, there was no need to move because the attacks began in the first minutes. The Valmiera FC team worked much more with the ball in attack. We also gave a ray of hope for the home team. Davis Oss acted convincingly in the most tense moments, while the first half ended with a goalless draw.
From the locker room with two changes, the team was shaken and a goal immediately followed. Lukass Vapne continued to organize the attack – a one-touch pass to Djibril Gueye, who beat the opponent’s goalkeeper similarly.
Grobiņa tried to recover, going to look for scoring opportunities. Our defenders and Oss had to demonstrate their abilities several times. The opponent immediately seemed to take the initiative. We had a little sweat, but we got another goal.
A long, lightning pass forward, a mistake made by Grobina, the goalkeeper left the goal – obviously, a goal must be scored! Meissa Diop received the long pass, looked at what was happening, and delivered the ball into the empty goal of Grobina, bringing the result of the game to 2:0.
We will play our next game in a few days, visiting Liepaja again to play against the local FK Liepāja.
