Along with the Optibet Virsliga opening another cycle of national team games is being played. In total eleven Valmiera FC players will play for their national teams.
Five players have earned call-ups to the Latvian men’s national team – Daniels Balodis, Emils Birka, Alvis Jaunzems, Renars Varslavans, and Maksims Tonisevs. Our men’s squad will play two games, one will be an exhibition against Ireland on the 22nd of March. The real games will get started with the Euro 2024 qualifier where Latvia will open up the tournament against Wales on the 28th of March. Both games will start at 21:45 Latvian time.
Three of our boys will jump into action in helping the Latvian U-19 national team book a ticket to European Championship. Klavs Lauva, Niks Sliede, and Kristers Volkovs will wear the colors of the country at the UEFA European Championship qualifier elite round. They will be playing against Serbia (22.03, 12:00), Poland (25.03, 15:00), and Isreal U-19 (28.03, 15:00).
The Ukrainian U-21 team is preparing for the round-robin of the European championships that are set to start on the 21st of June. Ivan Zhelizko will be the man to help his country in the tune-up matches when they will play against Denmark (24.03) and a strong Italy side (27.03).
Latvian U-17s have called upon Eriks Maurs-Boks and Ritvars Krists Zauska as the team is getting set for their own European Championship elite round where they will meet against a rather strengthy opposing side. To make it through they will play against Switzerland (22.03, 16:30), followed by France (25.03, 12:30) as well as Albania (28.03, 18:00).
