After resuming the Optibet futbola Virslīga, we’ve returned in front of our spectators after a month and a half, taking on FK Spartaks Jurmala in the stadium of Valmiera Olympic Centre. In an emotionally rich game, we celebrated a win with 2:1.
The first goal of the game was scored in the second minute already, when Alvis Jaunzems found Raimonds Krollis in the opponent’s penalty box with an excellent pass, immediately the captain played it to Ibrahima Sow who left no hope to Davis Oss in Spartaks goal. Unlucky for the home side, the second goal they scored, when Krollis finished the cross on far post, was ruled off because of the offside. In the very end of the half-time Richard Emeka Friday levelled result after he scored the goal with his head.
At the second half-time, the initiative belonged to the Tamaz Pertia led team, which had more control over the course of the game, regularly also threatening the opponent’s goal. The winning goal was scored in the 56 th minute when, after another free-kick, and another Krollis pass, literally, Djibril Gueye fly in the goal with the ball and desperate defender of Spartaks team.
In the remainder of the game, Masaki Murata and Niks Dusalijevs made a debut in Valmiera shirt coming on from bench. Without any problems, the victory was safeguarded, which allowed Valmiera to rank briefly in the first position of the tournament table.
The next game is scheduled on away against FK Liepaja on 4 August.
